Painting Blue Lips Red

To write a love letter
Cinched with lies
To try and mend
Severed ties

To fall asleep
In a gutter of shame
As the rain pushes down
In sharp twinges of pain

To re-open & peer into stitched wounds
And stick Band-aids back on top
To hear a girl screaming
Praying the madness would stop

To push perfection to its boundaries
To run daggers into unsuspecting hearts
Glaring into the looking-glass frame
Scraping nails madly across body-parts

To hate so much her weary bones ache
To fall so hard on trial
To throw away all she ever had
To see her try, see her smile.
