The Precipice

Stand there on the precipice,
Sweet young woman,
the ledge to which you are driven
by all your inadequacies and fears

Look down at your feet,
where calm eternal darkness looms,
Its the culmination of your hate and loathing
and your mind's projection
of how you've seen yourself for years

Look upon the vast array of nothing,
flowing tidal waves of silky doom,
their crests born of breathing winds
filled with whispered words of hatred
and raindrops made of blood and tears

This nothing is everything, your past,
your future, your life, your death
The windows to your soul you have closed,
the doors you have forever locked
your eyes see a world of beauty,
but none of it can touch your blackened heart

Mindlessly and numbly you travel on,
living day to day surrounded by beauty and love,
yet you are never touched by the warmth of the sun
Isolated you survive, but only by your choice,
is this the life you live

Stand upon the precipice,
sweet young woman
for a choice you must make
Will you stay and let in the love
you have so long denied yourself
or will you let this nothing consume you
and be all you ever were?
