A Goodbye Letter

Dear Light of My Life,

This is your Old House.
I want to thank you for visiting today, for stroking my walls,
The layers of peeling, forgotten paint, an onion.
Your fingers still feel the same.
I felt your bare feet on my worn floor. I miss the feel of your flesh.
I noticed you breathed deep in my doorways.
Did you smell it? The blood, the tears, the laughter?
Iíve tried so long to hold onto it for you.
You seemed sad, studying my windows, disfigured with time.
It is alright child, it doesnít hurt much.
Thank you most of all for sitting at the piano.
Though you did not play, I saw your fingers float over the keys.
I heard the music anyway, felt the vibration in my bones.
I know I will die alone here, with my creaks and moans, but it is alright.
Iíve lived a good life, a full life, my whole purpose was you.
No one will ever know you like I.
I love you, unconditionally.
Sweet Light of My Life,
I love you,
Goodnight.
