rubbing the dreams from my sleep

I still wear you to bed
so I can feel you in my
dreams.

I am
so
wrapped up in you.
You still ward off the cold
hands of time and space.
Every sentence had me trailing.
You were always losing yourself
in the gulfs connecting my ribs, I am still lost
in the warmth of your laughter
against my flesh

(the heat of my breath colliding
with your chest is all I have left).

Your messiness is infectious, I still
misplace myself because
you taught me
I am not confined by key hooks or handbags.

you prickle against my skin, the warm hand
holding my stomach on the way home.
Nobody else has ever loved me that way,
they all loved my bones and the spaces
between.
Never the places I exist.
(Perhaps you always preferred to kick the grass
than let your feet caress the pavement
because you were afraid you'd
slip between the
cracks
like the lines in my poems)

You will always be
2am kisses, and
the hiss of closing train doors.

goodnight

There is a wonderful honesty about these lines. Loving the broken. Beautiful.

I relate, my first love will always be the love of my life that I lost. But you can always love another, just not the same way more than once. Beautiful.

This is so heartfelt and touching, nostalgic as well. I love the way you express yourself when you write, it's unique and enthralling.
