Behind Closed Eyes

When I close my eyes,
The fan blows sea breeze
When I close my eyes,
The cars driving by are footfalls on sand
When I close my eyes,
Dusty air tastes salty
When I close my eyes,
The weight of my heart becomes my anchor
The only thing that stops me from floating
Away into my my dreams

The ocean waves crash
As I hear children playing in the sun
Reminding me of the joy outside
Though only twelve steps away,
It is beyond my reach.

When I close my eyes,
I am but a cloud in the sky,
Raining into the waters below,
Drowning beneath the sea
Lost but finally home
Buried in the seabed
When I close my eyes.
