Poem of Quotes Members

a humid summer night among the cornfields

a hiss,

a step outside
into another world
where the insect world
takes over.

i am nothing to them.

toads hop past my feet
dogs bark in the distance.

that hiss,
hum -

it never stops
despite its calmer tone
once morning arrives.

we are nothing to them.

they hiss,
hum -

past us,
near us,
occasionally landing (on us).

we are something to them,
though i'm sure they forget us
more often than we forget them.
