The Shroud

I am a magician,
I build this illusion
People believe it
And i wander through life

I try the best i can to break the shadows
To reveal the true nature that i am
But whenever the mirrors shatter
And the broken glass is all the remains
People fleet, fearing what lays on the ground

It is me, i am the lifeless glass
It has no more power
It shines no brighter than dirt
It merely appears faint

I sit waiting and watching for the time to strike
The time to reveal myself
But as aforementioned I always find the wrong time
I sit and wait, and i pick my actions with care

I sit, in the tempered glass
I associate myself with it
I am one with the shroud
The dark night i hide underneath

Recently i have found myself going out of these shrouds
Late into the night, I show people what i truly am
And I find, people don't like it
At least those who i try and reveal it to

I am but a false hope in my own eyes
And my eyes see everyone's sides
Because I am the mirror that reflects all
I reflect what people want to show, and what they don't

I am not a man in my eyes, i am a boy hiding from his own fear
I sit beneath it, and i can't escape, the bonds that hold me remain too strong

Great write man. You aren't a fraud though. I had the same problem growing up. Always afraid to show people who I truly was. But who are you truly being a fraud to? Its all wasted energy man. Don't walk around with the guilt of being something that displeases someone else. The people who don't accept you for who you truly are are not your friends and are not worth your time.
