...because living was a deadly situation (Song)

You were terminally ill
There was no hope for you

Mother was just outside the window
Talking to doctors about what to do
What they say is really true:
Ignorance is bliss

I sat there seeing you motionless
And what I thought was your tongue falling out
On the other side of the gurney
I saw them switch you off

These were the longest hours of my life
But I know that they were short for you
‘Cause you were in a coma
When they turned off your life support
You fell asleep into death

They had to take the pain away
It was far too much for nothing
They had to take the pain away
They had to take your life

I ate my bag of salty chips
To rid me of the sour feeling
And I told myself it’s for the best
You’re better off dead
You’re better off dead
You’re better off dead

These were the longest hours of my life
But I know that they were short for you
‘Cause you were in a coma
When they turned off your life support
You fell asleep into death

For you, the clocks started to tick
As they pulled the plug on you
But for us, they came to a halt
As we sat within those white walls
And I felt my heart sink
And my body grow cold
As I saw my uncle cry
Uncontrollably, on your corpse
Because you were more than a grandpa
You were a good-willed human being
A loss for a world that wouldn’t know
And a hole in our hearts
I ate my bag of stale chips
To rid me of the dreadful feeling
But it was all in vain
And so was waking you up
