April 9

the breeze grew cold
and the sky faded gray
but she didnt leave

a murky refelction
lay on soft, rippling water
how many seasons, is too many to grieve?

this damned anniversary
for cruel moments of fate
brings back the feelings

they come in earth quakes,
shaking! shaking!
until finally she is kneeling

then crying and tremors
and she closes her eyes,
now avoiding the water's reflection

she cant face herself
she cant face the memory
blindness is a twisted form of self protection

though the girl is not broken
she struggles much
with sadness bound

april ninth and lonliness
a chilled breeze and faded sky
bring a young woman to her knees, and clutching solid ground.
